Each summer the Old Kirk hosts a non-denominational holiday club for primary school aged children. While we’ve become one of the biggest holiday clubs in our area (and probably the noisiest!), our aim remains simple: to communicate the love of God in Jesus in a fun and exciting way.
Over the last eleven years, we’ve grown in size (and noise!) thanks to the fantastic support of our Kirk Session, Congregation and the families of the children. And that’s not forgetting our amazing team of leaders who make it all possible..
Our Summer 2017 Holiday Club: Monday 24 to Sunday 30 July
Times will be confirmed shortly but Holiday Club normally runs from 10.30am t0 12.30pm Monday to Friday with doors opening at 10.15am. As always, admission is free (any donations received go towards the costs of crafts, materials and snacks).
Our end of Holiday club celebration and BBQ event, will take place on Sunday 30 July at 10.30am.
Our annual celebration event is always massively popular (and full of surprises!) so remember to bring your family and friends so they can find out more about what we’ve been doing. It’s nothing like a normal service (our presenters previous entrances have included water pistols, shopping trolleys and scooters!) so expect videos, music, mess, mayhem but but most of all, expect the unexpected! And don’t worry if it rains, we have wet weather plans in place just in case!
What’s the theme for Holiday Club 2017?
It’s still a while until Holiday Club 2017 so we’re keeping our plans top secret for now! This year’s theme (and import booking info) will be announced shortly so keep checking here and our Facebook page for the latest updates.
How do I book a place at Holiday Club?
Places can be booked via our online booking system and the dates for this will be announced shortly.
Demand for Holiday Club places are normally very high (in 2016 we had 120 children and were fully booked within 1 hour – thank you!) so we recommend booking early as places are limited. However, places cannot be booked before the booking window opens – sorry!
While we can’t guarantee that extra places will come up after the booking window closes, we always try to make more available if possible. However, if your child is no longer able to attend Holiday Club then please let us know so we can reallocate their place.
What happens during Holiday Club week?
Once opened, reservations can be made via our online booking system though we recommend checking our website and Facebook page for the latest updates on our booking window as places fill fast. Admission is free (any donations received go towards the costs of crafts, materials and snacks) and we try to put children in a group with children their own age and with someone they know.
In general, our Holiday Club programme runs as follows:
Team Time: Taking place in their team’s dedicated area, some small craft activities.
Hall: All teams in hall. Songs, videos and general mayhem!
Team Time: Team area. Including some time to learn about today’s bible story, our main craft activity and to participate in some games. Snacks and juice are provided (including fruit).
Hall: All teams in hall. More songs, more noise, more mayhem!
Departure: Children will receive their daily newsletter and have the opportunity to take home any crafts etc before leaving.
We’ll be updating our Facebook page every day with all the latest pictures and videos from Holiday Club and we’ll be running daily competitions which will be announced via our newsletter. These will be handed out each day but will also be available to download from our website (here’s a sample: Monday Spotlight).
If you’ve been to Holiday Club at the Old Kirk before then you’ll know that anything can happen and we promise that 2017 will be no exception! As we like surprises, we like to keep our plans under wraps until nearer the time but we guarantee a week packed with laughs, mayhem and much more!
At Holiday Club we have lots of competitions and lots of prizes! Details will be announced nearer the time!
Our Holiday Club 2017 information pack will be uploaded soon which we hope answers any questions you may have. If you have any queries or would like further information then please contact Diane.
