Like tea? Like coffee? Like cake? (who doesn't). If yes then you'll love our next special event.

Our annual Afternoon Tea event takes place on Saturday 13th May. ☕️🍰🍓

Along with the usual Afternoon Tea favourites, we'll be serving refreshments and a selection of home baking.
We're also hosting some stalls selling homemade crafts and gifts.

Holiday Club

PR Logo Simple

Monday 24 to Sunday 30 July 2017

Each summer the Old Kirk hosts a non-denominational holiday club for primary school aged children. While we’ve become one of the biggest holiday clubs in our area (and probably the noisiest!), our aim remains simple: to communicate the love of God in Jesus in a fun and exciting way.

Over the last eleven years, we’ve grown in size (and noise!) thanks to the fantastic support of our Kirk Session, Congregation and the families of the children. And that’s not forgetting our amazing team of leaders who make it all possible..

Our Summer 2017 Holiday Club: Monday 24 to Sunday 30 July

‘Pyramid Rock’ kicks off on Monday 24 July at 10.30am in the Old Kirk (We recommend coming slightly early on Day 1 as registration takes a wee bit longer). If your child has a place booked then we look forward to seeing them and would ask that they please bring a white t-shirt (please note: it’ll be getting covered in paint!). However, if your child is unable to attend Pyramid Rock then please let us know as soon as possible so that we can reallocate their place.

Holiday Club runs from 10.30am to 12.30pm Monday to Friday with doors opening at 10.15am. As always, admission is free (any donations received go towards the costs of crafts, materials and snacks).

Our end of Holiday club celebration and BBQ event, will take place on Sunday 30 July at 10.30am.

Our annual celebration event is always massively popular (and full of surprises!) so remember to bring your family and friends so they can find out more about what we’ve been doing. It’s nothing like a normal service (our presenters previous entrances have included water pistols, shopping trolleys and scooters!) so expect videos, music, mess, mayhem but but most of all, expect the unexpected! And don’t worry if it rains, we have wet weather plans in place just in case!

How do I book a place at Pyramid Rock?

Our online booking system will go live on bokonline.org.uk on Saturday 3 June at 9am so put the date in your diaries and help us spread the word!

Demand for Holiday Club places are normally very high (in 2016 we had 120 children and were fully booked within 1 hour – thank you!) so we recommend booking early as places are limited. However, places cannot be booked before the booking window opens – sorry!

While we can’t guarantee that extra places will come up after the booking window closes, we always try to make more available if possible. However, if your child is no longer able to attend Holiday Club then please let us know so we can reallocate their place.

What will we be doing at Pyramid Rock?

For the last couple of years we’ve had a theme day and by popular demand it’s back! Our team don’t need much excuse to dress up so we’re having a Pyramid Party on Tuesday. This is your chance to dressed for a party – or maybe you’d like to come as an egyptian, mummy, animal or anything else which you can think of. But don’t worry if you don’t like dressing up, you could make a craft or draw/bring an egyptian related picture. Let your imagination run wild!

If you’ve been to Holiday Club at the Old Kirk before then you’ll know that anything can happen and we promise that this year is no exception! As we like surprises, most of our plans remain under wraps but we guarantee a week packed with laughs, games, crafts, music and so much more!

In general, our Holiday Club programme runs as follows:

Team Time: Taking place in their team’s dedicated area, some small craft activities.

Hall: All teams in hall. Songs, videos and general mayhem!

Team Time: Team area. Including some time to learn about today’s bible story, our main craft activity and to participate in some games. Snacks and juice are provided (including fruit).

Hall: All teams in hall. More songs, more noise, more mayhem!

Departure: Children will receive their daily newsletter and have the opportunity to take home any crafts etc before leaving.

But there’s more

We’ll be updating our Facebook page every day with all the latest pictures and videos from Holiday Club and we’ll be running daily competitions which will be announced via our newsletter ‘Pyramid Post’. These will be handed out each day but will also be available to download from our website.

Any questions?

Our Holiday Club 2017 information pack will be uploaded soon which we hope answers any questions you may have.  If you have any queries or would like further information then please contact Diane.
